Season Hubley in Christmas Eve (1986)

Throughout the 1980s, Season Hubley took part in many television projects. In 1986, the lovely actress lent her presence to a wonderful seasonal film called Christmas Eve (also known as Christmas Dove). The movie stars the legendary Loretta Young and she plays an old woman who is going to die soon, so she decides to hire a private investigator to locate her three grandchildren who she has not seen in many years.

In Christmas Eve, Season Hubley plays one of Loretta Young's missing grandchildren. Hubley's character, Melissa, now lives in California where she acts and also directs children's plays. A private detective (Ron Leibman) locates her and tells her that her grandma wants her home for the holidays. Hubley and Leibman also share several scenes (including one where they stroll down a beach) where they flirt and have deep conversations.

Season Hubley is just one of many fine performers in Christmas Eve and even though her time on-screen is limited, she manages to stand-out. She looks great and, because of her great acting skills and natural charm, she is able to make an impression on the viewer even though she had a script which gave her very little to work with.

Season Hubley in The Three Wishes of Billy Grier

In 1984, Season Hubley co-starred alongside Ralph Macchio in a TV movie called The Three Wishes of Billy Grier. The film concerns itself with a rare disease wherein a young person rapidly ages and dies. Macchio, fresh from the first Karate Kid movie, plays the young man afflicted with this fatal condition. After running away from home to find his father, he meets a woman named Phyllis Johnson (played by Season Hubley) and begins a quirky relationship with her.

The Three Wishes of Billy Grier is a somewhat bizarre film, something that they probably wouldn't make today. The movie was somewhat popular when it first aired and many people recall it from the years that it was rerun on television. It was good exposure for Season Hubley whose feature film career had recently gone asunder and was no focusing exclusively on TV projects. The scene where she kisses child star Macchio is one of the more memorable scenes from The Three Wishes of Billy Grier and one that many people still remember today.

Season Hubley in Under the Influence

In 1986, Season Hubley co-starred in a hard-hitting story about alcoholism, pill-popping and family troubles called Under the Influence. Depending on your viewpoint, the TV movie was either a gripping drama that uncovered the dark side of American life or just a heavy-handed portrait of some of the worst people you'd never want to meet. Sadly, many of the attitudes and types of people presented in Under the Influence really do exist...but one can always hope that the numbers are less now than they were when this movie was originally broadcast.

The upside of Under the Influence is the presence of Season Hubley. The actress gets to go over-the-top in her portrayal of the emotionally damaged daughter of horrible parents. During the course of this rather disturbing movie, Season Hubley gets to act utterly shocked a number of times, chain-smoke, slap her husband and attempt suicide. Her expressive face and solid acting skills make for a fun, if depressing, performance.

Season Hubley in SST: Death Flight

1977 was perhaps Season Hubley's busiest year. She made five guest appearances on various TV shows and also co-starred in a TV movie, SST: Death Flight (also known as SST: Disaster in the Sky).

SST: Death Flight, made during the disaster movie trend of the 1970s, has been maligned by many (especially after being given the Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment) but is really not all that bad. Sure it's cheesy but it is a fairly solid production with many familiar faces.

Season Hubley shares almost all of her scenes with two actors, screen veteran Peter Graves and John de Lancie (who is also a screen vet but is perhaps best known for playing Q in the later Star Trek series). Hubley has good chemistry with both and overall does a fine job with her ill-defined character. She looks cute enough too...though her hairstyle in this movie perhaps made her look a bit older than she actually was (she was around 25 years old at the time).
