Another Shakedown on the Sunset Strip photo

A while back, we took a look at another photo of the cast of the TV movie Shakedown on the Sunset Strip. Here is another photo of the trio of stars, the other two being Perry King and Joan Van Ark.

Season Hubley and Gary Frank

Here's a great newspaper promotional photo of Season Hubley and actor Gary Frank for the TV series Family. Season Hubley had a recurring role on the show, appearing in four episodes during the first and second seasons (which will be covered here more in-depth somewhere down the line).

Season Hubley on Kojak

In early 1977, Season Hubley was the featured guest star on an episode of the popular cop show Kojak. In the episode, titled "Sister Maria," Season Hubley portrayed twin sisters one of which was a nun (!).

Season Hubley was getting a lot of television exposure in 1977. A month previous, her guest appearance on another cop series, Starsky & Hutch, had aired and right around this time Season Hubley was appearing in episodes of Westside Medical and Family, as well as in the TV movie SST: Death Flight. Season Hubley's role on Kojak was another good one for her and the actress not only gets to have fun playing a nun but also gets to wield a handgun in two different scenes.

Season Hubley on Starsky & Hutch

During the 1970s, Season Hubley spent the bulk of her time working within the world of television, doing a number of TV movies and appearing as a guest on various series. In 1977, Season Hubley was the featured guest star on an episode of Starsky & Hutch titled "Starsky's Lady" (Season Hubley, of course played the lady in question).

On her episode of Starsky and Hutch, Season Hubley played Terry, the current love of Detective Dave Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser). Everything is going smoothly with their relationship until someone from Starsky's past decides to start hurting the people he loves. Terry gets a bullet to the head. She narrowly survives but doctors are unable to remove the bullet, so she only has a limited amount time to live. Very little police work is done (though, as you might expect, the bad guy is captured at the end) and most of the episode revolves around this highly emotional situation.

All in all, Season Hubley does good work here and she is very endearing as the young woman sentenced to die prematurely. Being a popular show, her appearance on Starsky & Hutch was undoubtedly good exposure for the actress (that same year she would also appear on another cop show, Kojak, which actually aired about a month after her Starsky & Hutch guest spot) which helped pave the way to the bigger projects Season Hubley would become involved with shortly thereafter.

Season Hubley in She Lives!

In 1973, Season Hubley co-starred with Desi Arnaz Jr in She Lives (an exclamation point got attached to She Lives! at some point, though none of the original press for the movie uses it). It was her first full-length made-for-television movie and that same year also saw her make her feature film debut in Lolly-Madonna XXX. This combination was good exposure for the young actress and Season Hubley became a fixture on television (and occasionally the big screen) for the rest of the decade and beyond.

Season Hubley: short newspaper profile

In June 1979, an admirer of the actress who portrayed Priscilla Preseley in the Elvis! TV movie wrote in to a newspaper to find out what her name was and what else she had done. Well, it turned out to be Season Hubley (!) and a brief rundown of her career is given.

This article was originally published in September 1973 while the actress was promoting her new TV movie, She Lives! Season Hubley, described as "delightful and bouncy," talks about her role in the movie. Additionally, some interesting details about her background are given, such as that her father was an oil executive and that she attended Quintano's School for Young Professionals in New York.
